Alpine Hospitality at It's Best

A storm blew up suddenly. The rains fell. Winds blew the canops off the roof. But the waitress smiled, offered us seats, towels and showed us the warmest food on the menu. Food from 5 euros. Wine from 2 euros and laughter that you cant put a price on. Nice rest spot between Seegrube & Innsbruck.

Well placed and beautiful view.

Evening stop for our ski holiday in Sudtirol with children and grandchildren. We appreciated the location, the quality of the welcome. The beautiful funicular that takes us directly to the center of Innsbruck. Breakfast quality.

Great little place

What I love about Alpina is that you get away from all the downtown noise, and can enjoy a fantastic view over the city and the mountains. The rooms are clean and up to date with bathroom and television. Try to get a room overlooking the valley. I also like the traditional restaurant down below. Access the place using the public bus from the city center, which you can hear passing by every 20 minutes. From Alpina you can enjoy walks in the forest or go 100% mountaineering if you like.

Great overnight

Overlooking Innsbruck, next to the Bahn (both down to downtown and up to 2200 metres). Alpina offered us a great overnight stay. Smallish, refurbished room, very clean and comfortable. Modern bathroom albeit with one drawback; it’s glass wall means the whole room is lit up if you turn on it’s light in the middle if the night. Nice little balcony, firm mattress and excellent breakfast (Jura coffee machine!!).
People running it are hardworking - they run the pension as well as the restaurant between the two of them- but welcoming, patient and friendly. The restaurant beneath the rooms is closed by ten o’clock ( kitchen closes at eight thirty) so no noise problem there. They have excellent pizza’s and the standard Austrian fare (schnitzel, pork,...) at very reasonable price. If you’re looking for a good overnight stay at low price, Alpina is a good choice.
Two smaller drawbacks: parking space is very limited (paid is available though) and there’s a bus clambering up the hill along the pension every fifteen minutes or so ‘till midnight.

Horribly rude staff

We stopped here for lunch today after an amazing trip up to Hafelekar. We followed the entry sign into a large room where 2 staff completely ignored us. We therefore found an empty table and sat down at which point another staff member came out and banged the table and said "no can, no can" very loudly and pointed to the way out and so we left. I can't recall ever having been spoken to so rudely before it was almost like a comedy sketch! And ps a much needed tip to your staff on customer service- don't assume that visitors from abroad can not speak German
