The hotel itself has a quiet and welcoming atmosphere, supported by the natural setting and the open, light-filled design in the entrance area. Due to the long corridors there is a small walk to the room, which further reinforces the quiet ambience. Another plus is the regulated rest periods from 23:00 to 06:00, which contribute to a relaxing atmosphere.
At breakfast, the hotel impressed with a rich selection, ranging from fresh bread and rolls to cold cuts and cheese to cereal components and vegan products. The vegan options are well signposted and can be found in a separate area, which is a clear sign of the hotel's commitment to guest comfort and diversity. The attentive service staff during breakfast times rounded off the positive picture.
Unfortunately, however, some aspects of cleanliness and maintenance were negative. While the equipment of the rooms is practical and functional, deficiencies in cleanliness have been noticed, especially in the bed linen and spa bath. Despite the efforts of the staff, changing the bed linen was tedious as a technician had to be called in. Other areas, such as the furniture and windows, showed signs of wear and stains. Cleaning the windows from the outside was also a challenge due to the wooden panels, which led to streaks. These points affect the overall picture and should be improved urgently for a complete guest experience.
The rooms were functionally furnished with details such as kettle, tea, instant coffee and a spa bath with disinfection instructions. Nevertheless, the aforementioned shortcomings impaired the feel-good experience.
The on-site restaurant offers a small, well-chosen menu of salads, burgers, steaks and a cold plate of cold cuts and bread. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant, the staff friendly and attentive, and the bill can be conveniently booked to the room and paid at check-out. Please note the opening hours of the restaurant (Monday to Friday from 17:00 to 22:00), although it remains closed on weekends.
Overall, Scandic Sønderborg offers many amenities and a quiet atmosphere, but improvements should be made in the areas of cleanliness and maintenance to provide guests with a fully compelling hotel experience.

Not dog-friendly
We were the only guests for breakfast, but were not allowed to use the breakfast-room. Scandic really showed their principles. But how can they call themselves dog-friendly?
This was our last stay at a hotel after travelling for three weeks to/from Provence. This was the largest additional fee, and the hotell that was clearly the less dog-friendly. Does Scandic know that every 5th family in Danmark and Norway has a dog? It`s strange that they dear to treat such a large customergroup this way.

Det ærger mig naturligvis, at vi slet ikke kunne ramme dine forventninger, hvilket jeg også beklager.
Lad mig dog nævne, at de tæpper du refererer til ikke er ulækre eller beskidte.. De er desværre ramt af pletter som ikke kan fjernes, men de er ikke beskidte. Vores omklædningsrum til saunaerne er ikke nye, det medgiver jeg, men alt hænger simpelthen ikke løst..
