Amazing.

Nice stay with a good meal!

A change of property owner announced upon Reservation (death of the previous one). Thank you Charlotte and Yann for your responsiveness and availability for our arrival after traffic jams on the road!
We were well received, the meal was good in the period kitchen and the breakfast very nice.
A peaceful place to rest.

Disappointed

Having not been informed that the owner had died a few months ago, we went to the Château (room reserved for several months) and what a surprise on our arrival, the gate closed and the castle abandoned. So we got back in our car but it was very difficult to find a hotel.

The magic of history fills this place !

This castle still has the remains of several towers and bears the burden of its long history. Mr. Jean-Claude Corbin saved it from ruin 30 years ago and devoted this life to its (partly) restauration.
Upon arrival, we enjoyed a detailed visit of the chapel, the kitchen, the main rooms and different staircases. The clockwise turning one, was designed to give the upper hand to the sword of the right handed defensor above (you will understand getting there ;-)
After a look on the damages by the French Revolution on the coat-of-arms of the Seigneurs de Cibioux, we were in the mood to explore our suite, once the residence of the marquise de Saint-Fief: a superb balcony, a vast salon (with piano and desk), and a large bedroom.
All windows (even in the toilet !) offer magnificent views on the parc and the ponds.
The bathroom is elegantly decorated with wood and mirrors all around.
Even this end of September, we enjoyed a four course candle light dinner on the balcony. Breakfast was also served there in private for the two of us in the morning sun.
We thank Mr. Corbin for his very authentic hospitality and will certainly visit him again.

Paix à son âme

Réservé avec une Smart box pour 2 nuits du 20 au 22 juin 2023, nous arrivons dans l'après midi et trouvons la grille du chateau cadenassée, après avoir sonné la cloche de la grille... aucune réponse. Proche du chateau j' interpelle le propriétaire d'une ferme voisine qui m’annonce que le propriétaire du chateau est décédé depuis 1 mois et de plus il m'indique je nous ne sommes pas un cas isolé,d'autre voyageurs se sont aussi cassés les dents devant cette grille fermé. Je trouve scandaleux que le groupe Smart box ne nous est pas prévenu de la fermeture du chateau. Donc 300 kilomètres pour rien et ensuite la course pour trouver une chambre dans la région. A fuir et paix à son âme au baron.
