Neither good nor bad.

I think this hotel is a reasonable hotel near Ominato station.
We also had breakfast at the hotel, which was delicious.
You might be lucky enough to find dinner in the neighborhood, but nearby shops were filling up early.

Lovely little hotel

One of the Folkloro chain, this one, right next to the station, is friendly, convenient and a better deal than the hotels in nearby Mutsu.
No dinner served, but good breakfast included, and there's an excellent mother-and-daughter izikaya (Kyoka?) just down the driveway on the main road.
Free use of laundromat. JP bank ATM close by.

Much better than other similar hotels

As far as business hotels next to train stations go, Hotel Folkloro Ominato is a good choice. Free breakfast (not a huge selection but I was satisfied), free wifi, free parking, staff are polite and speak some English. Rooms are very clean and fairly quiet. My only complaint would be the price. For two people, one night on a Saturday, the price was 16000 yen. That seems a bit high to me based on my previous experience. For me, this was a four-star experience within the limited realm of Japanese business hotels.

Decent budget hotel

We stayed here after a day of exploring yagen valley and mt.osore (both withon driving distance). The room is not much to speak of, your typical budget hotel room near a train station. It was neat and tidy. No safe. Breakfast was buffet style and was fine. Plenty of free parking around back. Staff was very polite and spoke a little English. There are also plenty of convenience stores, grocery stores, etc nearby. The price was a tad high for what you get, but there's not much other options in the area.
